American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) was founded in 1971 when a number of forward thinking municipally owned electric systems joined forces for the purpose of owning electric facilities to lower rates and increase the reliability of power supply for the benefit of their consumer-owners.
Today, AMP is a nonprofit, wholesale electric power and services provider, serving 129 members - 128 member municipal electric communities in the states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia, Kentucky and West Virginia, and the Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation, a joint action agency headquartered in Smyrna, Delaware.
