Located along U.S. 33 and adjacent to Indian Lake, Lakeview, Ohio, is a land of opportunity. The State Route makes us easily accessible, while the adjacent lake offers immense recreational opportunities.
Via U.S. 33 one can reach South Bend, Indiana, or Charleston, West Virginia, in 3 ½ – 4 hours. Interstate 75 (a twenty minute commute) enables access to Lansing, MI, or Louisville, KY, in the same 3 ½ – 4 hour time span. Dayton International Airport and Port Columbus International Airport can both be driven in just over 1 hour.
We operate our own municipal water and electric distribution systems. Lakeview is a Member of American Municipal Power, Inc., the nonprofit, wholesale power and services provider for more than 130 public power communities that serve about 661,000 customers across nine states. AMP manages and supplies competitively priced, reliable wholesale power to Member municipal electric systems such as Lakeview. With the assistance of AMP, we are able to provide a reliable, competitively priced, diverse power supply mix. All distribution lines are owned, operated, and maintained by the village. When there is an electrical problem, it can be resolved locally.
Lakeview is part of the Indian Lake School District in Lewistown. Several colleges and universities are within an easy drive of our village. The colleges/universities and approximate distances include: Ohio Northern University (21 miles), Ohio State University Lima Campus (26 miles), Wittenberg University (40 miles), The University of Findlay (41 miles), Cedarville University (52 miles), Sinclair Community College (53 miles), and the University of Dayton (54 miles).
Recreational opportunities are plentiful with most centered around 5,800 acre Indian Lake. Boating, water skiing, beaches, fishing, camping, bicycle trails, hiking, hunting, snowmobiling, ice skating, cottage or island rental – year-round recreation abounds here.
