Community Profile

Rock Solid Since 1858!

Located in Northwest Ohio, Carey is situated halfway between Toledo (to the north) and Columbus (to the south). U.S. Route 23 and State Routes 103, 199, and 568 pass through our community; and Interstate 75, twenty-two minutes from Carey, provides north/south access throughout the region. Approximately one hour north is the Ohio Turnpike and Lake Erie. Four international airports are located within a 2 hour drive – Columbus, Dayton, and Toledo, Ohio; and Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Ann Arbor Municipal Airport in Michigan can also be reached within 2 hours.

We offer economical and reliable utility services, i.e. water, sewer, and electric. In ongoing efforts to control our electric rates, we are active members of a multi-state consortium of fellow public power communities known as American Municipal Power (AMP). We are actively pursuing a portfolio approach to power supply, which will include wind, hydro and renewable energy sources. As a public power community, our electric rates are less than many Ohio communities. Our utilities are healthy and vital, and we work hard to keep them this way. Sound leadership from elected officials and staff make our community environmentally proactive, while remaining flexible and citizen friendly.

Carey is home to major businesses such as Continental Structural Plastics; Mineral Processing (an Anderson’s company), Vaughn Industries, National Lime & Stone, etc., and we always have room for more. We maintain the luxury of a quiet, peaceful community which residents enjoy. One can relax and enjoy our parks with a swimming pool, ball fields, pavilions, etc. They might enjoy the serenity of the Basilica & National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, or a tour of the nearby Indian Trail Caverns.

We are home to faith-driven, hard-working people who aren’t afraid to put in a good day’s work. They believe in themselves and our community. People working together have made Carey what it is today and what it will be in the future.

While we cherish our rich history, we are always working to guarantee a bright future for generations to come. We welcome you to become a part of our community. Make a visit or give us a call. We’re sure you will find our peaceful, serene community a place you would like to call home for you and your business.
