Community Profile

Situated on OH 39 in Richland County, Lucas, Ohio, is equal distance from three major airports: Cleveland-Hopkins, Akron-Canton, and Port Columbus. All can be reached in just over one hour. Within five (5) minutes of Interstate 71 and eleven (11) minutes of U.S. 30, we are able to offer easy commutes to several metropolitan areas. Cincinnati, Ohio; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Ft. Wayne, Indiana; can be driven in three (3) hours or less.

However, you will find that Lucas provides many opportunities right here at home. We operate our own municipal electric system, and are here locally to serve you. If there is an issue, you don’t have to wait for someone to come from miles away to assist. We’re local — just up the street or a local phone call away.

Richland County is part of FTZ 181, a nationally recognized program in foreign trade zone and development. If you import or export products, this is something you will want to consider in choosing your location.

For relaxation, many choose Malabar Farm State Park, created by Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Louis Bromfield. His goal was to create a working farm using the latest ideas he acquired in France. As he restored the farm, he also preserved the woodlands. Today, the property remains as it did in his time, with people enjoying the beauty, trails, wagon rides, restaurant, or possibly a picnic. The Big House, a 32-room farmhouse, built by Bromfield still remains; and in 1945 was the setting for the marriage of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.

The youth of our community attend Lucas Local Schools. For those who wish to further their education close to home, there are several choices which can be driven to in less than one hour. They include: Ashland University, Ohio State University – Mansfield, Kenyon College, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and The College of Wooster.

We have a wonderful setting for you. Stop by and see us soon.
