While we cherish our past, the Village of Montpelier is committed to preparing for the future. Our village offers excellent utilities including water, sewer, storm sewer, and a low cost electric distribution system. The utilities incorporate a new water treatment facility and a sewer collection treatment plant. As an added benefit, we also offer our own garbage collection and supply a recycling program. With all of these services, comes planning and anticipating for what lies ahead. We strive to be proactive, not reactive.

Just 5 minutes away from Exit 13 on the Ohio Turnpike, we have an exceptional location which provides superb east-west transportation to metropolitan areas, as well as quick access to Interstates 75 and 69, major north-south thoroughfares. Via the turnpike, Chicago or Cleveland can be reached in 3 hours. Indianapolis, Indiana, Detroit, Michigan, and Dayton, Ohio can also be reached in 3 hours via a combination of these highways.

Recreational opportunities are readily available – a wonderful park system including a municipal swimming pool with a 15-foot waterslide and a river nature walk.  Four challenging 18-hole golf courses are within a ten mile radius. In addition, Williams County Playhouse and the Williams County Historical Museum both located in Montpelier, offer superb cultural entertainment.  Montpelier is host to the Williams County Fairgrounds.

Our youth are educated at the Montpelier Exempted Village Schools in a new K-12 facility. Several opportunities for higher education are within a 30-60 minute drive. They include Defiance College, Defiance, Ohio; Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, Michigan; Trine University, Angola, Indiana; and Northwest State Community College, Archbold, Ohio are all within a 20 to 30 minute drive.  We are also close to Owens Community College, Toledo, Ohio; The University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio; Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio; and IPFW, Fort Wayne, Indiana all of which are within a 60 minute commute.
