Community Profile

Along Ohio 47 in Marion County, Ohio, Prospect is situated adjacent to the Scioto River. It is located 11 miles south of the City of Marion and 41.5 miles north of Columbus, Ohio. Ohio Route 4 is less than two miles from the village, with U.S. Route 33 and Interstate 75 being less than a 30 minute drive. In approximately one hour, you can reach Port Columbus International Airport for those longer commutes. These highways also allow easy access to such metropolitan areas as Chicago, Illinois; Evansville, Indiana; and Buffalo, New York; within 5 ½ hours.

While Elgin Local Schools provide education to our youth, we are fortunate to have two quality institutes of higher learning nearby. Ohio State University at Marion and Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware are just a twenty minute commute.

Recreational opportunities can be found at local park facilities, including the SunSwim Pool; and nearby at Delaware State Park (camping, fishing, boating, swimming, picnicking, etc.), Highbanks Metro Park (scenic nature preserve), as well as others such as the Columbus Zoo.

Prospect offers a quiet, small town atmosphere with all of the necessary amenities. If one wants to enjoy the flavor of metropolitan areas, they are just a short drive down the road. A visit to our community will show you what a great “prospect” we truly are. Hercules Industries, Inc., a complete line of solid brass tumbler pin padlocks, has found prosperity here. A tour of our village will show you why we are all proud to call Prospect home.
