Community Profile
A small community in northwestern Ohio, Republic is a safety-conscious community who places the health and welfare of our citizens as top priority. Our village is located on Ohio 19, just south of U.S. Route 18 and nine miles east of Tiffin in Seneca County. Our historic downtown business district is the heart of our community, though everyone plays an integral role.
U.S. Route 224, 5 minutes south of Republic; and U.S. 30, to the south, and the Ohio Turnpike, to the north, are both within a 30 minute drive of the community and provide easy highway driving. Toledo Express Airport is a 1 ¼ hour commute, while Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport, Port Columbus International Airport, and the Akron-Canton Regional Airport can all be reached in less than 2 hours. Lake Erie is just a ¾ hour drive. Our highways also make it feasible to access metropolitan areas such as Springfield, Illinois; Madison, Wisconsin; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Toronto, Canada; within 6 ½ – 7 ½ hours.
Local students attend Republic Elementary and Seneca East Junior High in our community. Seneca East High School is a nine minute commute. Both Heidelberg University in Tiffin and Tiffin University can be accessed within 15 minutes.
Our community has a state of the art communications tower for emergency services, and upgraded storm sirens. In addition, generators are installed at all critical infrastructure sites and village facilities. When there is a problem with any municipal service, including electric, we are right here in your community and available to remedy the situation.
For relaxation, Clinton Lake Camping is located just outside of Republic. Whether you wish to fish, swim, play a game of volleyball or horseshoe, etc., you will find it a great place to relax and spend some quality family time.
