Community Profile

Located at the intersection of U.S. Route 40 and State Route 54, South Vienna is just one minute from Interstate 70 which provides east-west transportation from Utah to Maryland. Approximately mid-way between Dayton and Columbus, one can reach the Dayton International Airport in 39 minutes or the Port Columbus International Airport in 44 minutes. Our village is also halfway between Interstates 71 & 75. The intersections of all of these highways so nearby make travel to metropolitan areas an easy commute. A drive to Chicago can be completed within 5 hours. Within 6-7 hours, one can reach such cities as Nashville, Tennessee; St. Louis, Missouri; Frederick, Maryland; and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

South Vienna is one of 87 municipal electric systems in Ohio. As a member of American Municipal Power Inc. (AMP) we are able to join with others in attaining energy at an economical price. Having our own electric distribution system, we are able to react immediately to the needs of our community. We are local and are dedicated to providing you with reliable service. As a citizen, you have the opportunity to elect representatives to the board/council who make decisions on its operation, and you are able to voice your concerns in their open meetings.

School children attend Northeastern Local Schools who have been rated “excellent” by the State of Ohio. Due to our location, we have vast opportunities for higher education within easy driving distance. These include Wittenberg University (18 minutes), and Cedarville University (25 minutes). Wright State University, Capital University, Ohio State University, Sinclair Community College, and the University of Dayton can all be reached between ½ – 1 hour.

Our proximity to cities such as Springfield, Dayton, and Columbus, allow for a vast variety of relaxation and entertainment opportunities. You may choose to relax in a park, participate in friendly sports competitions, attend a concert, etc.

We are proud of our community and believe we have the perfect location. We invite you to be a part of it.
