Community Profile

East Conemaugh, Pennsylvania is a small community on PA 271 in southern Cambria County. We offer a peaceful setting with access to larger metropolitan areas, if needed. U.S. 219 is less than a six mile commute, while Interstates 99 and 70/76 are less than 33 miles from our community. These byways make Erie, Pennsylvania; Alexandria, Virginia; Washington, D.C.; Baltimore, Maryland; and Cleveland, Ohio, attainable within four hours.

If you choose to fly or take the train, both the local Amtrak station and Johnstown-Cambria County Airport are accessible in ten minutes or less. For further flight options, you can utilize Pittsburgh International Airport.

Our borough is proud to operate our own municipal electric system. As a municipal system, it is owned by our citizens and governed by representatives they elect. If there is an electrical issue, we can reserve the matter locally. We install and maintain the distribution lines, and give back to the community we serve. We are members of American Municipal Power (AMP), a nonprofit wholesale power supplier and services provider for member municipal electric systems in six states. With their assistance, we are able to provide our community with a reliable, economical, diverse mix of electrical energy.

Local school children are educated through the Conemaugh Valley School District. Advanced learning opportunities are as close as the University of Pittsburgh – Johnstown, an eight mile commute. Indiana University of Pennsylvania – Main Campus (35 miles) and Penn State Altoona (44 miles) are two other alternatives nearby.

Recreational facilities such as Duman Park and Prince Gallitzin provide excellent leisure facilities in our county – camping, fishing, and scenic views. Rock Run provides recreation for the ATV enthusiasts.
