Community Profile

Goldsboro is located along the west bank of the Susquehanna River in York County, 16.5 miles south of Harrisburg. Our area is surrounded by quality roadways. Interstate 83 is 6 minutes to the west, Interstate 76 – 14 minutes to the north, and Interstate 81 – 25 minutes to the north. In addition, we have access to U.S. Routes 11, 15, 22, and 30, all within 30 minutes. These highways bring metropolitan areas such as York, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Allentown, and Philadelphia, PA; Baltimore, MD; and Trenton, NJ, all accessible within 30 minutes to 2 ½ hours. Even a drive to New York City can be accomplished in less than 3 ½ hours. Harrisburg International Airport is a 30 minute commute and brings the world closer to home.

The borough provides municipal electric service to our customers, maintaining all distribution lines, and providing related electrical service. Citizens elect representatives to the board and are able to attend their open meetings to express any concerns. Electrical matters are dealt with locally by local personnel. We install and maintain the distribution lines, and give back to the community we serve. We are members of American Municipal Power (AMP), a nonprofit wholesale power supplier and services provider for member municipal electric systems in six states. With their assistance, we are able to provide our community with a reliable, economical, diverse mix of electrical energy.

The youth of Goldsboro attain their education through the West Shore School District. Several institutions of higher learning are nearby for those who wish specialized training or to further their education. Within 30 minutes, one may choose from Pennsylvania State University, Harrisburg Area Community College, York College of Pennsylvania, and Messiah College. Dickinson College, Millersville University of Pennsylvania, and Gettysburg College are also available within an hour.

Whether you like fishing, camping, skiing, or other outdoor activities, you need not go far. Also within our county are opportunities to enjoy museums and cultural arts. While we are a small community, we offer many amenities.

Come visit us and see for yourself. We’d love to show you around and discuss what Goldsboro has to offer. We think you’ll find we are a community true to our heritage and true to one another.
