Community Profile

Five miles east of Route 60, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, is located among picturesque countryside, with great access to larger markets via nearby interstates. Interstate 376 and Interstate 80 can be accessed within approximately 10 minutes, Interstate 76 within approximately 15 minutes, and Interstate 76 in less than 30 minutes. These highways allow travel to Cleveland, OH, in 1 ¾ hours; Buffalo, NY, in less than 3 hours; Columbus, OH, in 3 ¼ hours; and Rochester, NY, in approximately 4 hours. Limited air travel and package transportation is available at Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport within 30 minutes of New Wilmington. Full-access air transportation is attainable within the hour at Pittsburgh International Airport.

The Borough of New Wilmington is proud to own and operate municipal electric, water and sewer systems. We are members of a six-state electric organization, American Municipal Power (AMP), through whom we purchase power for distribution to our customers. Water is purchased from Aqua Pennsylvania Water Company for redistribution to the Borough. All distribution lines and infrastructure for electric, water, and sewer are owned by the Borough. Through local ownership and operation we are able to provide quality services at economical prices.

Local youth attend the New Wilmington Area Schools. Upon graduation, they may choose to further their education close to home. Westminster College, a top liberal arts college and national leader in graduation rates, is located within our community. According to the U.S. News Best Colleges guide, it is a “Great School, Great Price.” Some of the other colleges/ universities available within 30 minutes of New Wilmington include: Penn State – Shenango, Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, Butler County Community College, and Grove City College.

Our borough offers various recreational and leisure opportunities: a swimming pool, picnic pavilion, tennis courts, basketball court, sand volleyball, playground, as well as unique little shops. Within the region, you will find additional outdoor recreation including campgrounds, etc.
